Estate Planning to the Rescue!
If you become ill or you die, does anyone know where your important documents are located? What specific instructions have been made and where are they? Would the person you have put in charge even know they are in charge? Who needs to be notified? Proper esate planning helps us while we are alive and when we die. It is important to recognize that estate planning is more than just death and tax planning and that it is ultimately your responsibility.
Several Documents should be Created
To be prepared you should have a current will, a valid durable power of attorney, a living will and perhaps several types of trusts. If you are incapacitated, a trust may ensure that your assets are managed properly for you and lessen the chance that you will be subjected to a guardianship proceeding. Your power of attorney may not work! Have you left proper "What About Me" Instructions? These and other documents need to be considered in putting together a proper estate plan.
Documents should be Easily Available
